Financial Coaching

In partnership with TrustPlus, a national nonprofit organization

What is Financial Coaching?

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by debt, trying to improve your credit score, and finding a way to achieve your long-term goals – it’s time to take back control with the help of free Financial Coaching.

The IDG is partnering with TrustPlus, a nonprofit with a mission to improve financial security for everyone to provide Financial Coaching for free to all New York IDG members.

Financial Coaching is offered to every IDG NY member for free and is available in English and Spanish. The financial coaches at TrustPlus are experts in personal finance, and they are dedicated to helping you achieve your financial goals, including:

  • Decreasing your debt
  • Improving your credit score
  • Building (and sticking to) a budget
  • Increasing your savings
  • Create a plan to make your financial goals reality, whether it’s saving up for a car or funding your retirement

You may invite family members over the age of 18 to your Financial Coaching sessions, and after you’ve completed your first session, your adult family members can have their own one-on-one sessions with a coach.

Note: Trust Plus financial coaches cannot help you with tax preparation, business strategy, insurance, or investing decisions.

  • Will I need to pay for Financial Coaching at any time?
    • No, Financial Coaching is offered to all New York IDG members for free.
  • Will I lose my access to Financial Coaching if it stops being offered by the IDG?
    • As long as you have already had one session with your TrustPlus financial coach, you will have lifetime access to their services. TrustPlus is a national nonprofit, so their mission is to help you improve your financial health and achieve your long-term goals.
  • How do I share Financial Coaching with my family?
    • After you have your first Financial Coaching session, you can ask your coach for a reference link that will give your loved ones access to Financial Coaching. However, if you want to share Financial Coaching with fellow drivers, have them sign up for the New York IDG here, or call 833-442-8848
  • Will TrustPlus need to pull my credit information? Won’t that hurt my credit score?
    • When you create an account with TrustPlus, you will have the option to input your information for a soft credit pull. Unlike a hard credit pull, a soft credit pull won’t affect your credit score. However, it will give you, and your TrustPlus coach enough information to get a clear picture of your finances. But, providing your information for a credit pull is not required.
