Fighting Congestion Pricing Pay Cuts with the IDG
Starting in January 2025, NYC’s congestion pricing rules will hit rideshare drivers hard, with Uber making sure its profits are protected at your expense. Instead of absorbing costs or ensuring riders shoulder them, Uber is cutting driver pay by up to $5.94 per trip on cross-Hudson rides. This comes on top of a new congestion surcharge added to trips south of 96th Street in Manhattan. While IDG successfully fought to shield drivers from the worst of these policies, Uber’s actions underscore the urgent need for a pay raise to protect hardworking drivers from skyrocketing expenses. But the members of IDG are fighting back. Read our full story in the New York Post now.
Uber and Lyft spent millions lobbying for congestion pricing, knowing they could pass the burden onto drivers and riders while profiting from reduced street competition. This corporate greed leaves you, the essential workers of NYC, with less pay as you keep the city moving. IDG is leading the charge to demand fair pay from the TLC and hold these companies accountable. Sign our petition, join upcoming actions, and share our social media posts to amplify the fight. Together, we can protect drivers and win the raise we deserve.

A Historic Win for Drivers: Let’s Bring It to New Jersey!
Massachusetts drivers just made history, winning the right to form a union—a major victory for fair pay, stronger protections, and a voice on the job. This milestone shows what’s possible when drivers come together and fight for what we deserve. Now, New Jersey drivers can make it happen too.
Thank you to all our IDG New Jersey members who came together to celebrate Massachusetts’ win, discuss how we can organize for a union and higher wages in New Jersey, and connect with other drivers over delicious Mediterranean food! We appreciate your commitment to work together to build a movement for fair pay, respect, and dignity on the job.
New York Drivers: Add Your Voice—Demand Fair Wages, Better Protections, and Real Solutions by Signing Our Petition!
This past summer, countless New York City drivers faced unjust lockouts, losing critical income that many families rely on to meet basic needs. It’s time to take a stand. We’re calling on the Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) to ensure Uber and Lyft are held accountable for these disruptions. Join the Independent Drivers Guild by signing our petition to demand justice and financial stability for NYC drivers. Our demands include compensation for lost earnings, increased pay set by the TLC, stronger safeguards against app lockouts, limits on new FHV licenses, affordable insurance options, more relief stands and EV chargers, fairer parking rules, and a ban on autonomous vehicles. Together, we can create a better future for all app drivers in New York City—sign the petition now!

Celebrating the Enduring Legacy of Martin Luther King Day
As we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s memory, we recommit ourselves to building a movement rooted in unity, justice, and the belief that progress is possible when we stand together. Dr. King’s fight against racism and his unwavering support for workers’ rights guide our work to empower drivers, challenge injustice, and uplift working communities everywhere. His vision of dignity, fairness, and equality for all serves as a constant reminder that the fight against discrimination—on the road, in the workplace, and in society—is far from over. As we honor his memory, we reaffirm our commitment to combating racism in all its forms, advancing fair pay, respect, and protections for drivers, and building a movement rooted in Dr. King’s ideals of unity, equality, and justice.
